2013: It's what's for dinner

When I turned the ripe old age of 26 a few years ago, it occurred to me that it's only depressing to get older if you don't like what you're doing with your life. If you do, birthdays are a celebration of everything fulfilling in our lives - faith, family, friends, and the gift of being able to live a fruitful, thoughtful, painful, interesting life for a few brief moments on this earth. I feel this especially as I embrace the healthy tension of living as a scientist (studying the natural earth) and a Mennonite (living for the ineffable values of faith and community). The present becomes even more precious when we live it aware that we will never live it again. We will never be just like this again.

So I embrace joining the decade of 30's later this year! It's a great year to turn 30.

I love that when I mentioned this to my friend Gabe a couple weeks ago, she grew the thought of inspiration into a gorgeous chalk art! And guess what? We are the luckiest, because she has shared the art on her blog along with free images of the art!

It IS a great year to turn 30. And if you are turning 30 next year, perhaps you should just keep this and give yourselves a printable present next January 1... because turning 30 is worth celebrating with abandon!

Gabe made the printables downloadable for iphone size, droid size, and various desktop sizes as well as an 8x10 - I'm loving using it as a background for my phone and computer!! So go visit her blog. And enjoy. :)
